[Oe List ...] FRED'S walk for ALS

Dear Friends,

On Saturday, September 27th our team, FRED's FOLKS, will WALK for  
ALS.  We would ask you to join us either/ or both:

1) by walking in a ALS WALK in your location (go to http:// 
www.alsa.org/walk/default.cfm to find a walk near you), or

2) contribute to the ALS fund by sponsoring those of us who walk (go  
to http://web.alsa.org/site/TR/Walks/EvergreenWalk? 
team_id=86412&pg=team&fr_id=4640),

OR BOTH.

Fred is getting weaker, especially in his legs.  He can still walk  
but stairs are very difficult and sometimes not possible.  He uses a  
cane full time, a wheelchair when necessary, and a riding scooter  
that gives him lots of freedom to move around and continue to be with  
others.

Fred is letting go of many activities that have called forth his  
passion in the past and is focused on writing; about our community,  
"SONGAIA, an Unfolding Dream", his own life's story, and other pieces  
of family history in story form.  We continue to relate to friends  
and family as much as possible for this time has beckoned us to see  
these relationships as most important.

All the funds in the ALS WALK go toward providing support services,  
medical equipment, such as his wheel chair and scooter, and  
counseling for people with ALS and their families, as well as  
research to find a cure.
