[Oe List ...] Song, Story, Symbol -- a random question

Dear Jim,

Because I use song-story-symbol all the time in couple's therapy, I thought the three came from the missional-family course in the Cultural Studies series.
Then again, since my wife and I were married while we were in the O:E (1974), they might have been part of the marriage prep of the time.

Where did Song, Story, Symbol come from in our history?

I was having a conversation and that came up.  I know it was woven into town meetings, but I believe it was already a part of the institute culture.  

Any stories??
