Hi Lynda,

Thank your efforts to tell us all about this film. Thank you for your beautiful spirit and good energy. I have not yet seen it but will when the opportunity avails itself.

The whole story and drama of it touches me personally. Of course I was raised in the U S by a mother who intended that I live in a completely different place. Her dream was that I would go to Riga. And 0f course, it was an impossible dream since it took over 50 years for the iron curtain to fall.

I am a grandfather today but as a child I never met my grandparents. They were victims of the "Red Train" and the gulags. My own dad was on a death list and my mom and dad narrowly escaped arrest, torture and eventual death. I heard the unbelievable beautiful stories of how our Baltic people held hands across three nations Lithuania, Latvia & Estonia symbolizing that it was time for a change. All three countries have their singing tradition and participated in what now was called The Singing Revolution. A change of regime without the blood bath.

I cried when Yeltson got on a tank and asked the Russian soldiers not to shoot people. I was also moved to tears when Latvian grandmothers walked up to armed Soviet troops and gave them flowers, saying, "I love you. All we want is freedom."

Now, over a decade ago when I visited Riga, I saw the bullet holes where Russian troops opened fire on buildings and their occupants. Thankfully, the eventual cool heads prevailed and suggested this is a war that could not be won and the "battle" was not worth winning.

I visited a site at an intersection where the trains stopped. People had driven short pieces of rail into the ground. Each rail had painted on it a destination of a gulag in Siberia. This intersection was where people were herded off of trucks and forced into cattle cars to be taken to concentration camps.

I could not stop crying. My tears seemed to have no end.

Ed

over 60 cities in the U.S. and Canada so far, with more theaters coming

May, but the film is still being booked into August! Theaters are seeing
the fantastic, steady results in each city we've opened in so far, and are now

PS – It's proving physically
impossible to keep up with the volume of emails we receive regarding the
film. Please know that each email is read, and timely or urgent ones are
responded to as quickly as possible. Ultimately we are trying to respond
to all, but there are hundreds backed up and we're trying to come up with a
system to better handle it. When someone writes a personal note about what
the film meant to them, or how their grandfather died in a Soviet gulag and now
they understand so much more of his life, it just doesn't seem right to hand
that off to an intern to reply to it. Please know that we're doing
our best to keep up with it.
