[Oe List ...] U Methodists and Bush Library

I am not sure exactly how this will play out. From what I have heard
the UMC does have ownership of SMU. The Board of SMU voted to accept
the Bush library and the Bishops of the South Central Jurisdiction
gave their blessings. There is some fuzziness about property
ownership, I think, on some of the property that was acquired at
different times which the Bush Library would occupy. By church law
the General Conference is supposed to have the last word. The Bush
group, many of whom are members of the SMU board, may be looking for
loopholes. The South Central Jurisdiction meets in July and it may be
taken up there.

I have emailed Andrew Weaver, who has been heading up the effort to
block the library, and I will forward anything he has to say.
