G'day from Down Under, "where ......."
1)
Ditto from me. It's great - heartwarming, tears-to-the-eyes stuff - to see the news clips of people lining up to vote - maybe a sign of the restoration of some hope for the electoral system?
(2)
When people in Australia push for voluntary voting - usually from conservative or libertarian folks (and I guess there can be some overlap at times) - suggest that maybe we should have voluntary taxation as well.
I think of the categories of economic, political and cultural. Which one is compulsory in all countries? Which one is compulsory in some, voluntary in others? And you can't really avoid being in a cultural milieu!
(3)
At the time of writing, I've just seen a Foxtel display in my local shoppin centre - Obama has 300 Electoral College votes so far.
Cheers
