Dick Kroeger's completed life. Pain and loss in the same week as Obama's victory. Dick grew up in the Norwich, NY area and in the Binghamton Metro he and Amelia inspired us as some of the first EI colleagues that Abe and I knew. Our intern year in the Rochester House was spent with them in 1974, and we followed with appreciation as they went on to Cannonball and other fine contributions. Dick was/is such a vigorous person - so much insight and energy. Zero tolerance for bull. Like his mother, Garnett, a real warrior in recruiting for RS-1 and PLC. We used to joke that if Garnett decided that someone was going to take RS-1, sooner or later they would, because she never quit. She'll be right there to welcome Dick. Oh, Amelia, my heart and prayers are with you.

Subject: [Dialogue] Dick Kroeger's Completed Life
I just received this email from Amelia Kroeger. Her email address is: Ackroeger at aol.com
Dick Kroeger died yesterday afternoon. Official time 5:01 p.m.
He was hunting with a hunting buddy, James Young, in Windom, MN. James administered CPR as the medical units were called by his young son, Cody. Everything was tried in the field and ambulance. The doctor at the hospital in Windom pronounced him dead after nearly a half hour of continuing the effort to revive him. I have requested an autopsy.
James Young's girl friend drove me to Windom (2 1/2 hours). I stayed with Dick's body for some time and then drove home with the girls (two of our bird dogs) arriving here about 1:30 a.m. this morning.
Dick frequently told me that he would prefer to die in the field hunting with his dogs. He was blessed.

Feeling that morality has nothing to do with the way you use the resources of the world is an idea that can't persist much longer. If it does, then we won't.
