Hi Lois and David,
I have just looked at my email for the first time since Sunday.  Your news was sobering, but the decisions you have made stir the heart.  Faithful courage is at the center of what you are doing.
Doris and I have always treasured our times together in England.  Mention two memories to David.  1) The last round of golf I have ever played, I played with David and one of our Guardians near the Norfolk coast of England in 1972.  Of course, David beat both of us handily.  2)  Enter this period with the same kind of decision you approached the potato picking day in north Yorkshire (If this reference is a bit oblique to most of you, the Teeside Religious House made a ton of self-support money with a whole house all day potato picking for a local farmer. David out-picked all of us that day._
Lois and David, know that we all groan with you and yet sing with you through the days ahead.  You are both firmly rooted in the Mysterious Giver and Taker of life.  Walk in Grace and Peace and Love.

David Zollars is dealing with very aggressive colon cancer and is the final stage of his life journey.  Our family has met with the Dr.  and made some hard decisions, but we are all on the "same page".   We are now in the stage of comfort and care only.  Dr.s feel they have done all that can reasonably be done and we are opting not to put him thru more procedures.  The outcome is inevitable, and to do more would be selfish on our part.    We have been very lucky to have had 50 great years of marriage and have three wonderful children and their families, including 5 grandchildren!!!
