Dear David and Ellen,
Thank you to you both and Rod and Bob for being there for, Jim and me. We do appreciate being kept in touch and often can "see" the event or what is being described by someone on this listserve. So, profound gratitude for your description of the Celebration Service for the completed life of a fine man of spirit.
In peace,
Isobel Bishop.

Subject: [Oe List ...] David Zollars Memorial Service
Rod Ripple (O:E About 1965 - 1977), Bob Jones (Presbyterian Minister and Jesus Seminar Fellow -Old friend of David's), Ellen and I attended David Zollar's Memorial Service in Pittsburg (wearting our hats with everyone there).
It was a fine celebration complete with the Magnolia Dixieland Jazz band who played several medleys and "When The Saints Go Marching In" at the end. The front of the bulletin had a quote from Bishop John Shelby Spong:
"I am so busy living that I don't waste much time trying to figure out what happens after life. I believe in life after death but I can"t define it. I believe in life before death and intend to live it."
The Scriptures were Psalm 69 and Micah 6 favorites from his recollections of EI days and we sang a favorite hymn "Come, Labor On" His two sons and daughter presented recollections of their father and several of the grandchildren were accolades in the service.
We had all attended John Dominic Crossan's presentation on Roman Imperial Theology the evening before. David would have been there with us but canceled out a week and a half ago.
Grace and Peace
David Rebstock
