Karen: three sets of items for you:

1)

It would be worthwhile contacting Barry Oakley - check the Directory - in South Australia. Barry has written several self-published books in the Australian vernacular. Some are autobiographical, some are about rural life (he was a farmer before becoming a minister), some are parables about life, and there's some poetry in there too.

2)

I think John Rees - he and Gwenda have retired to Kapunda in SA - also check the Directory - has been writing, too.

3)

Our colleague from Mowanjum, the late David Mowarljarli, co-wrote Gwion Gwion - check it on via Google - a photographic journey through sacred places in the Kimberley, NW Australia. The book is a good summary of "the bush university" tours he and his colleagues used to take people on. Former Anglican primate of Australia and former Archbishop of Perth, Peter Carnley, was one person who went on the tour - his experience was made into a TV documentary.

I've just located my copy:
1: Gwion Gwion
Secret and sacred pathways of the Ngarinyin aboriginal people of Australia
2: By four elders and men of law: Ngarjino (Laurie Gawanali), Ungundman (Paddy Wamma) , Banggal (David Mowaljarli) , Nyawarra (Padd Newarra)
3: Published by Konemann, c 2000.
4: Text in English, German, French
5: 336 pages, large format, approx 24 cm x 29 cm

Best wishes

Frank Bremner

PS David has been an author and/or co-author of books of stories, maybe published by Fremantle Press.
