Hi Pat, Doug and OE Colleagues,

Thanks to Ester Mae Cox, we have been enriched by your forthright and
moving story (via the video) about your 40-plus year journey together, as
well as the fine article published in the Quad-City Times.   Because of
all this and more that we know about you, we now name you as "global
treasures."

Next weekend our son, Jon, will serve as Groomsman for his Amherst
College classmate, James.  Jon and his wife, Jenna, have decided to give
James and his lovely bride, Jette, a nontraditional wedding present. 
They have asked a number of people (Joe and I included) to write a
statement about "what we have learned about marriage that is worth
passing along."  Jon and Jenna will package up these diverse "wisdom
musings" for James and Jetta to open, one each year, on their future
anniversaries.

Joe and I intend to blend the insights shared from your witness about
your 40 years together with the "wisdom" we have gleaned from our own 42
year journey.

We rejoice in the continued life of our beloved community.
