Hey Paul!
Great to hear your voice and your wisdom. Yoou would not believe the misinformation and outright lies being distributed here about the U.K. and Canadian systems. I am working several days a week at least part time on this campaign, primarily with a group called Hoosiers for a Commonsense Health Plan (HCHP). O yes, for a European, Hoosier means a person from the state of Indiana. Just this morning at our Farmers Market here in Bloomington I had to share my three year experience of the National Health Service in Britain with several people. Most really appreciated it, after they decided to really believe me. They have been fed so much junk by the lobbies.
Keep your wisdom coming our way.
Charles

Hi there, from the other side of the ocean. I am a frequent user and big fan of the National Health Service in the UK.
One of the problems of health care is that normal market mechanisms don't work, because patients have a lot less data than providers, sometimes 12 years of education less data. You can have private cleaning companies compete with each other, and it helps. having cardiac surgions compete with each other doesn't work so well.
It appears that lawyers and insurance companies are distorting the market to serve their own needs, in a way which is detrimental to the overall system and users with a limited budget, of which there must be 100 to 200 million in the US.
I was in Canada this summer, where the GP told me that the Canadian system is fantastic. He certainly was cheap and effective for me.
Obama rocks for wanting to take something on, which Clinton didn't succeed with. It might not work. the Medical system (insurance companies, lawyers, Big Pharma) has such power, maybe more than the government. I wish all of you campaigners well.
However will present the facts in the clearest manner will win this game.
Paul
