[Oe List ...] Bug model

Let's build a webinar using the "Bug Model" as the focus and market it to
groups like the some 2-million groups Paul Hawken has documented and
describes in his book _Blessed Unrest_. They all need to think through depth
sustenance on their journeys of care for the Earth community.

I loved the bug model. It was the main reason I joined the Order.

I looked it up!
http://www.wedgeblade.net/gold_path/data/ldrt/100676.htm

While I liked the 2.0 version of the Bug Model, the external
witnessing/justicing dimension makes no sense except as it is grounded
concretely in the context of a 'LOCAL PARISH', which means gridding etc.
your version of 5th City just for a start. Otherwise it's vague (which is
probably the way the historical church would like to have it). So for me the
key concepts are: 1) the church is Mission, period. and 2) Radical
Discipline is only for the sake of Mission (why else would anybody join a
religious order--just because it's such great fun? not the way I recall it).
So the heart of the Bug is simply about envisioning/creating what we need to
sustain ourselves for the corporate Mission.

Talk about contextual drift! When did we start watering this down?

The Bug Model was a teaching image from the PMC/PLC as I somewhat vaguely
recall. Which means it was from RSIIIA?? There were multiple
lectures/sessions based on the Bug, so there's a lot of depth somewhere on
each of the 'legs' and on the 'body'.
Comments? Insights?

If I remember, the circle was very important representing the discipline of
the covenant

For those interested in the Bug Model, I have a detailed model that I used
in my doctoral project that uses the references from the United Methodist
Book of Discipline.
The Bug Model has three foci:
The left side represents what I've call the Locker Room (also called
"In-Reach") in which the two practices are Loving Worship and Loving Study;
The right side represents what I've call the Playing Field (also called
"Out-Reach") in which the two practices are Loving Justice and Loving
Witness.
The center circle represents what I call the Church's Glue that holds
both sides together. This contains 4 dimensions of Fellowship
(Inclusiveness, home visitation, etc), Polity (ordination, marriages, etc.),
Stewardship (Offering, gifts, etc.) and Responsibility (funerals,
counseling, connectional relationships.).
If anyone wants a copy, I can scan it in order to send it.
    Inner Peace,

I thought the Bug Model had an arrow-shaped head called Mission.
