Georgianna,
What a wonderful piece you have written. I was born near the end of the
Great Depression., and don't have many detailed memories of it. But I've
heard many stories from my parents of having nothing but potatoes to eat. I
do remember hobos and wondered why my mother was frightened of them. My
clear memories are more about WWII and how that shaped my childhood.
Perhaps I'll write my memoirs, too. Thanks for sharing your reflections. Now
if only we can learn from those times.
