I hated this right-wing distortion of global economics, but I loved Jon's take on it.
I would add that there are really two global economic pools, and the elite pool is in a lush valley downhill from the economic pool of the 'favelas' clinging to the hillside. And there is a not-too-secret drain that drains the poverty pool into the elite pool.
So, cutting off their water supply is the key to keeping more of the rainfall.
