Jay Sr. and Ann and Family,
As Mark and Jenelle have indicated, and many others have given testimony,
Jay Antenen, Sr. and Ann have been one of the more locally engaged of the
guardians network. If there was a service action going on in Hamilton, Ohio,
They were in some relationship to it -- supporting it or animating it. Even
the Cincinnati Metro was in his sphere of influence. The Ecumenical
Institute/ICA's global network provided a resourcing for Jay and Ann to
bring even more of a global mindset into their local sphere. With a face of
skepticism and reluctance that his construction experience required he
approached each transaction knowing his heart of golden generosity had a
check already to sign if his initial faith in what was being proposed was
confirmed. .

Elise and I were later priors in the Cincinnati house he had helped
establish. As some may remember it was across the river in Covington, KY., a
huge house with huge rooms that had once played a critical role in the
underground railroad, but whose huge rooms had to be partitioned with sheets
to accommodate the many single family units that had come to join. It had
served well to get started and offer programs. everyone had gotten used to
saying I am from the Cincinnati house in Covington, KY.. We had proposed to
Chicago(Centrum) that we change the name of the metro to Covington, but it
didn't seem to fly. In fact the "Word from on High," came that we were to
move from that house at the earliest possible time and get ourselves
centered in the City limits of Cincinnati even if it meant moving to a barge
in the river as long as it was tied to the Cincinnati side (symbol is key,
right). How do you pitch that idea to a man like jay, whose whole life is
about practicality. We gently proposed the idea to him knowing it was his
resources that had established the Cincinnati house in Covington in the
first place. We also did some looking trying to figure out where would be
the best location.

As my memory registers it, just before the the summer gathering and the
Packard's ensuing assignment to Cleveland. We got the call from Jay to go
inspect the big white house in the poor area on the near east side in the
neighborhood we had sensed would be the best location. We (a team of staff)
were blown over by all the nooks and crannies and potential rooms. This
house seemed like a dream come true (though I heard I had been cursed at a
few times by latter residents of multi-member families). I called back to
Jay expressing our delight and it was in essence a done deal; he already had
the check ready to sign.
Thank you Jay and Ann, God is with you.
George and Keith Elise

Jenelle and I remember well the presence and support given by the Antenen
family when we were trying to establish a Religious House in the Cincinnati
area. They were, for us, a powerful example of the Guardian dynamic and a
powerful example of the kind of leadership so desperately needed by the
institutional Church. May the celebration of Jay's life be a sustaining
gift for all the family, colleagues and friends of the Antenans. Mark and
Jenelle Dove
