Gini Evans Natali
1946 - 2009

Gini was one of those rare people who truly lived the values of  
inclusive participation and profound respect. Active in the  
predecessor to the ICA, the Ecumenical Institute, she continued her  
work locally when she and her husband, Vince, moved to Chester, CA

Gini helped form the Wildwood Residence, the first senior housing in  
Chester, participated on the Board of the Sierra Institute and its  
creation of the Center for Forestry Tours, and supported the PTA at  
the local and state level for decades.

Whenever she could Gini promoted the work of the ICA and the ToP  
methods, referring people to our courses and us to those needing  
facilitation services.

Gini's brother Dave, wrote a funny and moving essay that tells more  
about Gini's life, her involvement in the work of the Ecumenical  
Institute and ICA, and how she brought him and their parents, Paul and

and memory by contributing to the Sierra Institute and the fund they  
have established to support an SI Health and Education Internship.

Gini Natali Health and Education Memorial Internship

In honor of Gini, the Sierra Institute, (http://www.sierrainstitute.us/index.html 
), is launching the Gini Natali Health and Education Memorial  
Internship. Interns will work on health care and education issues to  
which Gini dedicated much of her life. From SI,
Gini was one of the Sierra Institute’s first board members. She was  
attracted to the Sierra Institute because of our focus on community  
and improving the lives of rural people. But what kept Gini involved  
was her love for the interplay of ideas and tying a vision of healthy  
rural communities and land to on-the-ground projects that made a  
difference. Gini’s deep respect for people and ideas was matched by an  
incredible ability to organize and energize people.. She led with  
smarts and a heart that served as a compass for the Sierra Institute.  
Gini’s brother perhaps put it best when he said that Gini had the  
“innate ability to recruit, organize and influence people…to do what  
they had never imagined in order to accomplish what Gini envisioned as  
a greater good for all of us.”
