About a month remains until the gathering of colleagues, new and old, in
Washington, DC, for the Transforming the Legacy Symposium, honoring the work
of Bishop Jim and "Brother Joe" Mathews. If you have not yet registered,
you are invited to do so right away. The discounted rate at the hotel has
been extended until Nov. 24, which is good, because I've been away and
didn't get this posted to the list serves in a timely manner. Explore the
links below to refresh your memory on details. Lynda Cock

Subject: Mathews Symposium November 10 Update
REGISTRATION FORM ATTACHED - Hotel Reservations Deadline
NEWS!: "Eternal Values in a World of Change" by Bishop James K. Mathews will
be published for Symposium participants and special order for those who
cannot attend. The six chapters in this book, originally published in 1960,
foreshadowed the coming age of conflicts, diversity and the challenges in a
world where rapid change and interfaith relationships and social
responsibility for people of spirit converge.
NEWS! We are also pleased to have Dr. Mark Davies, Dean of the Petree
College of Arts and Sciences and Wimberly Professor of Social Ethics at
Oklahoma City University, joining our Environmental Stewardship Track. Dr.
Davies is preparing a paper reflecting his work at the Oikos Institute
entitled "It's Time: Caring for Our World House in the Make or Break
Century"

Gifts from Colleagues:
Several colleagues have mentioned gifts that they would bring. Forrest
Craver leads this way with a book of poetry to be published in time for the
Symposium entitled "The Well has no Bottom". He will also be collecting
stories from all of you under the title, "The Starfish Stories" based on an
original story by Loren Eiseley. (Instructions will be on the website.)
Those who take a copy will be asked to donate to the support of the JWM
archives and the costs for publishing the results of the Symposium. You may
indicate gifts and support at Sponsorship
<http://www.resurgencepublishing.com/wts_registration.html> .
For questions or clarifications please contact me or any member of the
steering committee.
With kindest regards.
