 Dear Journeys Community,

It is with deep, profound sadness that I write this email, to let you know
that Stan Crow, Rite of Passage Journeys' Founder and Director for 25 years,
passed away yesterday morning as he was getting ready for church. While he
had been ill for some time, it appears that his death may or may not have
been connected with his illness, and in either case, it was absolutely
unexpected and heartwrenching. I am so sad for anyone that has to find out
via email, but I wanted to get the word out as widely as I could.

Stan was a truly incredible man, larger than life, with a heart that
encompassed everyone he met. The legacy he leaves behind is rich and
varied, and exemplified by the many communities that he helped shape and to
whom he gave a full life of service. His family, his church, the Songaia
CoHousing Community, and Journeys--these are just a few of the communities
whom he helped shape and nurture. As just one individual touched by this
man, I know how profoundly he impacted hundreds if not thousands of lives.
Last night, a small group of us from Rite of Passage Journeys gathered, as
many other communities did, to be together during this time. One among us
summed up the sentiment for many:

If it weren't for Stan Crow, my life would be completely different. Who I
am is thanks to Stan.

Our hearts are with his family during this time: his children,
grandchildren, and his wife Carol. We are so sorry for their loss
especially.

Over the next days and weeks, we will get out more information as it becomes
available. There will be a public memorial once the family has had a chance
to grieve, and we will serve as a communication channel to let folks know
the details. We are happy to serve as a clearinghouse for cards or emails
to the family. There are also currently two places to post stories,
memories, and well-wishes online. At Stan Crow's Corner on the Rite of
Passage Journeys
website<http://cts.vresp.com/c/?RiteofPassageJourney/5a90620092/5bc7f3adad/0c62553abd>,
you can share stories of Stan as it pertains to his rich legacy of work with
youth, rites of passage, and Journeys, and see much of his work. We are
excited to collect and archive these stories--ones we were not able to get
into print in his lifetime, unfortunately. A page has also been set up at
the Woodinville Unitarian Universalist Church
<http://cts.vresp.com/c/?RiteofPassageJourney/5a90620092/5bc7f3adad/4bcaa0a12d>website,
where you can post thoughts and also post messages for his family.

Thank you for your continued support, of Stan, his family, and his legacy.

Many blessings,

 Darcy Ottey, Executive Director

Mentee of Stan's since 1991
