Dear Roxana,
Thank you for sharing Nina's letter with us. I weep with all gathered in that
emergency room and especially with Carol. I celebrate the life and death of a
great human being Stan Crow.

Peace,

Jeanette Stanfield

 Dear Ones,

This letter comes with great sadness as we report to you that our father,
husband, grandfather and friend, Stanley Harold Crow passed away suddenly
and shockingly on Sunday November 15th. This was unexpected, and although he
had been having some other health issues we had not been concerned about his
heart. At the time of his death he was surrounded by his wife Carol,
daughters Karyn and Nina, grandchildren Noah and Kali and beloved brother in
law, Jack Lush. It was powerfully painful to watch them try to revive my
father in the emergency room, violent really, but the gift in watching this
effort was that we knew they had done everything they could and that he
needed to leave us. We were required to release him. At the hospital came a
flowing of people who love this man, his other two daughters Karen and Kris,
his son Chris, his granddaughters Ilaria, Annelyse and Calista, church
members of the Woodinville Unitarian Church, and Songaia Community members.
His body was surrounded by love and song. We wept, and wept and wept, and we
sang, shared stories, and comforted each other. It was profoundly painful,
but it was truly beautiful. Later the social worker let me know that the
staff of the ER were overwhelmed by the gestures and love that they had
witnessed on that day. My father was only the second death they had seen in
their ER since it opened. We showed them a unique way of mourning and they
were grateful to have witnessed it. We are heartbroken as we know all of you
are. He was an exceptional man who touched so many. He leaves a vast legacy.
More news will come but please now mark your calendars for January 9, 2010
where we will gather here in Seattle at Eastshore Unitarian Church to
celebrate his life. You are all welcome and we would love to see you. Truly,
please come if you can. He would have loved that in his death he brought
together a community. One of the most amazing parts of a death is that we do
get to gather, share, and reconnect. We are looking forward to seeing
whomever can come. Our vision and intention is for the memorial to be just
what my father would have expected and wanted, a CELEBRATION, a reminder of
the work he did and what the rest of us still are doing. There will be
sadness, but there will be a great deal of joy as well. With great love and
appreciation for the connection you all shared with our beloved Stanley,
Nina Crow Rhys, on behalf of Carol and our entire family
