Many of you will want to know this...so I'm sending it to the network.
I talked with LaVerne Phillips this afternoon.
Jim died this morning.
Three years ago he had a stroke that slowed him down a lot, but he did  
have three years with his family that allowed them all to reflect on  
what was happening in their lives. About three weeks ago he had  
another stroke which pretty much stopped any activity. He spent the  
last week of his life in hospice and that is where he died.

All the kids had been down to see him in the last few weeks/ 
months...and his sister spent some time with him recently.

Both Jim and LaVerne had planned for cremation...and there will not be  
any memorial service now.
As a family they have gathered at Paw Paw Lake in Michigan during the  
summer every year for years. Even last summer LaVerne and Jim got to  
have a short bit of time there.
That is where he will be remembered next summer by all the children/ 
grandchildren, etc.

LaVerne seems at peace with his death...knowing that now he is out of  
a good bit of misery.

Cards or calls would be welcome. Many sent Jim birthday cards last  
June which were very welcome.
