I am so sorry to hear of the Death of Jon.  

What a shock.
 
My enduring memory of him is when he was the dean of a training school we  
did in Brussels, maybe in 1980. He sat in the faculty room, setting the 
tone,  training faculty, one lecture, one workshop at a time. Helpful, thorough, 
 unbelievably purposeful. He and Steve Allen flipped the coin, one would 
take the  faculty, the other the kitchen. I proposed to them that they do half 
and half.  Jon objected. No, there is as much dignity, relevance in running 
the kitchen as  in running the faculty. No need for compromises that would 
somehow communicate  that one was more important than the other. Jon was 
clear. Uncompromising.
 
What a life!
