Subject: [Oe List ...] Church service on Christmas Eve

Apparently, if you go into King Soopers, the grocery chain here in the Denver area, there are packages of Cadbury's chocolate Easter eggs for sale along with the Christmas things. I know this because Son Shanker's sister in law, Linda got the right answer of (maybe) why they may be there during the quiz show that was part of the sermon at church (c. The store is starting early marketing Easter, and d. They are both signs of the same thing -- that the babe in the manger is the one on the cross.)

Wonderful, Herman. Leonard
Cohen always was a unique singer - but more now since he must be in his
80s. I remember his songs from the 1960's. Deep truth in this
refrain, and in many lines in the verses. Thank you for sharing
this.

I received this from a friend. It has so
much of RS-I in it I wanted to share it with you.

  Ring the bells that
  still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack
  in everything
That's how the light gets in

  Leonard
  Cohen

  Wishing you a joyous
  holiday season 2010 and a happy 2011.

  "Anthem"

The
birds they sang at the break of day
Start again I seem to hear them say

Don't dwell on what has passed away
or what is yet to be.

  Ah
  the wars
  they
  will be fought again
The holy dove
She will be caught again
bought
  and sold and bought again
the dove is never free.

Ring the bells
  that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in
  everything
That's how the light gets in.

We asked for signs

the signs were sent:
the birth betrayed
the marriage spent

Yeah the widowhood of every government --
signs for all to see.

I can't run no more
with that lawless crowd
while the killers
  in high places
say their prayers out loud.
But they've summoned,

  they've
  summoned up a thundercloud
and they're going to hear from me.

Ring
the bells that still can ring ...

You can add up the parts
but you
  won't have the sum
You can strike up the march,
but there is no drum

Every heart, every heart
to love will come
but like a refugee.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering

There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.
