Jim:
During our eleven years with the Order I participated in frequent fasting. During the time we lived in Vienna and Brussels, I fasted 70 days a year. During this time I did a lot of reflective writing, most of it would take too much time to recover as it is in daily journals. During each of these times I was fasting 30 hours.
However, I do have the following in print form that I'll send you if you choose:
1) "Mapping The Interior: A testimony to the power of fasting." This is a three-page paper I wrote in Aprip of 1986.)
2) CALL TO PRAYER AND FASTING, by the Council of Bishops of the UMC. This is a one-page document. An interesting side note is that during the 12-year assignment of Bishop Fritz Mutti to the Kansas Area, he insisted that his District Superintendents in both conferences fast every Thursday. I believe this was a 24-hour fast of breakfast to breakfast.
3) "Loving God, Leaving Food: My 40-day fast developed a spiritual hunger." This is a one-page article excerpted from Leadership (Fall 1997).
4) "Fasting: relic or relevant?" This is a reprint from the UM "Circuit Rider" of January 1986.
What do you think?

Subject: [Oe List ...] 2 requests
1. I recall, in the summer program of 1984 -- the big council -- that someone handed out a story about the "Plur - E - Forms" -- had some hand drawings in it, may have been a cartoon / comic strip one of us created. I have lost all my notes from that gathering. Anyone remember this, or have a copy?
2. Is anyone on the list participating in fasting on a regular basis? Seems like it was mentioned some time back. i would be interested in any constructs or context.
Gracias,
Jim
