Joan was up with the PT's 2 times today. Was already getting good range of motion, but it was excruciatingly painful. She'll be on blood thinners for 3 weeks, so can't take her usual anti-inflammatories until after that.

She appreciates your prayers and good wishes.

Blessings,
Jann

Jann, Thanks for your email. I sent an email to Joan at her address, but she won't get it for a while,so I'll give you the gist to relay to her.

I had hip replacement surgery on November 19, 2009. I knew that the first two weeks would be awful, and they were, but then I got much better. I did not go to rehab as my sister and my husband were able to do the 24/7 required for the first two weeks. Once she can get of Perkiset? she will start to feel better, but she will need a few days to get to that point. I had to deal with blood-thinners to avoid clots, and that lasted for about a month, All of these things add up, but you do get better.

My goal was our timeshare for Mexico was January 29th for two weeks and I was going! So I did everything the PT and OT told me to do, even if I didn't like it. It worked.

Tell her prayers for healing and patience are flowing in her direction and this time will pass. I take anti-inflamatories as well for arthritis, but found that much of the back pain came from compensating for a very bad hip and has not come back. G&P, Clare Whitney

Phoenix

Dear Colleagues,

As many of you know, Joan had her left knee replaced yesterday. When I arrived here Monday afternoon, she was in a great deal of pain, having been off her usual anti-inflammatory drugs for a week in preparation for the surgery. Without the drugs, she's quite debilitated with arthritis.

Surgery went well. She was euphoric yesterday, actually feeling better than the day before. When I talked to her this morning, reality had set in. She'll be working with a physical therapist today, getting the new knee moving gently.

She is in Phoenix Baptist Hospital, room 571, until Thursday or Friday. Then she'll go to a rehab facility for some time. When she comes home her daughter Kristin will come to stay awhile. The hospital phone number is 602/249-0212.

I had been planning for some time to come here this weekend for a Matrix Energetics seminar. So when Joan's surgery was scheduled, I arranged to come early to take her to the hospital. One of her beading friends, Diane, came to the hospital to wait with me. Very sweet.

Edith Byers and I visited in the evening yesterday. Marilyn Oyler and I are going today. Joan has a special beading bag packed in the car for when she feels like beading. She thought yesterday she would want it today, but that's not going to happen yet

Please send fervent prayers on behalf of all her joints. They'll avail much, as you know.

Love and blessings,
Jann McGuire
