[Oe List ...] Mary Coggeshall

When working to set up Training, Inc. in Newark, NJ Mary Coggeshall 
was a regular member of the set up team of Sheila Maguire, Phyllis 
Hockley and myself. I can see her now, white hair, blue blazer, and 
comfortable shoes, walking into an the old church we used as our 
office space. We would set up in the lounge, prioritizing our list of 
contacts (mostly provided by Mary) and work the pay phones setting up 
appointments. She had so many connections in Newark that in no time 
at all she got us in to see the people we needed to see to get the 
program up and running. She came regularly to cadre meetings in the 
basement of Dick and Ethel Smyres. Way before I knew Ron, he was 
working with Mary on fair housing in Morristown, New Jersey. Her 
husband Bayard was the pediatrician for Ron's daughter and son. When 
doing local development work we could always depend on Mary and 
Bayard to make a generous contribution at the campaign launch dinners 
at the New York Religious House. For many years she has been one of 
my favorite people in the world. When Ron and I left New Jersey for 
California in 1988, Mary, Ethel Smyers and Retty Thomas put on a 
great going away party at Retty's place. We were sent off with great 
spiritedness. She was an amazing, caring and generous woman.
