[Oe List ...] Theological Justification for Football

As an Okie, I have to say I do love a good OU/Texas football game and love
to watch OU in the bowl games on years when they get there. However, there
is a lot of truth - and statistics to back it up -- in a book called " The
Stronger Women Get, the More Men Love Football." The thesis is that the more
men love football, the more women get hurt.
Just another perspective from Bronco county (when I moved to Colorado in
1990, there was a joke going around that Pete Rose was being banished here
because he wasn't allowed to be near serious sports!) - oh well, two Super
Bowls under John Elway were a joy to watch, back in the day.

This match-up is certainly stirring-up passions and, I might add, from some
unexpected quarters. Maybe there is something to a "Theological
Justification for Football" about this after all (or maybe not!). I asked
David Scott to comment on his alleged pontification about this. See below.

I had written (or spoken) a theological justification for football. I do
recall talking at one time about my feeling that football was the ultimate
team building dynamic (overcoming our propensity to individual
overemphasis). But as for a full-blown theological justification -- I think
it must have been someone else -- maybe Hilliard.
