[Oe List ...] Theological Justification for Football

In my family there are two theological approaches:
Every game is a classical battle between good and evil -- my team is good of
course.
The other is "right strives with right" and my team is always the "most"
right!

With kindest regards.

This match-up is certainly stirring-up passions and, I might add, from some
unexpected quarters. Maybe there is something to a "Theological
Justification for Football" about this after all (or maybe not!). I asked
David Scott to comment on his alleged pontification about this. See below.

I had written (or spoken) a theological justification for football. I do
recall talking at one time about my feeling that football was the ultimate
team building dynamic (overcoming our propensity to individual
overemphasis). But as for a full-blown theological justification -- I think
it must have been someone else -- maybe Hilliard.
