Hi Georgianna,
What a wonderful and powerful reflection on the Great Depression years.  It just 
touched all kinds of chords in my life---the beggars coming to the door for 
food, and my mother never turning one down; the ice truck; my dad without a job; 
the cars you describe---I need not go on.   I do not think that my family was as 
comfortably situated as yours,  but we did manage to eat and not get kicked out 
of our small rented house.   Thanks for the piece and of the encouragement it 
gives us in these times.
