Thanks, Pam.  I wonder if the shoebox of receipts are there somewhere--they represent a whole year of work ("chits" as we called them)  After that year Terry (my husband) and I stayed up until 4 a.m. preparing for a State Dept (under Carter) audit for a tiny sum of money we were given.  I think we had to get a loan from a colleague who ran a bank in Jackson, to pay for the state assembly (which was terrific).  That X@! grant (from which the audit originated) came in months and months late, hence the loan.  A very short time after the grant arrived, we were to prepare for an audit.  Terry and I gave up at 4 a.m.  I cooked bacon and eggs and we went to bed feeling very free knowing we had done all we really could do.  Our 31 year old, Joe, was a baby sleeping through it all. Hadn't thought about this in a long time. --Diann

I worked all morning today, all yesterday afternoon and part of Monday trying to organize Mississippi.  It was a real exercise in something (I'm not a poet, so I lost the word.)  It is fascinating and I am in awe.  I will take good care of them.  They still have at least that much more time to be put into them.  Pam

My heart sings to see the file of Mississippi Town Meetings.  I hope the data can be organized so the stories can be heard, the stories embedded in the files.

We're getting a little nervous that it's Wednesday and we still have several large piles to work through—Texas and Mississippi come to mind. We decided today to do sorting of the files by state and data entry for the town meetings not yet in the database simultaneously in teams of two. Evelyn Philbrook is our champion data entry typist at some amazing speed like 80+ words per minute. Sally Fenton gets our stamina and attitude award for data entry typist for sheer exercise of will to make stiff fingers do her will. They obey.

We're getting our hanging file frames into the file cabinet drawers, the Filemaker Pro software is installed on two computers and we're about to make the transition from the Excel spreadsheet to the new Filemaker database. This will be a step up into a very powerful, user friendly and highly adaptable tool for making data entry, search and arranging our data, and useful reporting much easier. We'll make the transition carefully over the weekend before next week's team arrives and expects us to have our act together.

What questions would you like to address to the members of this week's team? I'd like to do a podcast of various answers.
