Pretty Woman
~ Roy Orbison
Pretty woman, walking down the street
Pretty woman, the kind I like to meet
Pretty woman
I don't believe you, you're not the truth
No one could look as good as you
Pretty woman, won't you pardon me
Pretty woman, I couldn't help but see
Pretty woman
That you look lovely as can be
Are you lonely just like me?
Rrrr
Pretty woman, stop awhile
Pretty woman, talk awhile
Pretty woman, give your smile to me
Pretty woman, yea yea yea
Pretty woman, look my way
Pretty woman, say you'll stay with me
'Cause I need you, I'll treat you right
Come with me baby, be mine tonight
Pretty woman, don't walk on by
Pretty woman, don't make me cry
Pretty woman
Don't walk away, hey
Ok
If that's the way it must be, ok
I guess I'll go on home, it's late
There'll be tomorrow night, but wait
What do I see
Is she walking back to me
Yea, she's walking back to me
A
Oh, oh, pretty woman

In the previous post Bill Alerding said "Music is probably the best vehicle for connection at a deep level". Wasn't there a song when Paula was much younger that went something like....." Pretty Paula walking down the street, Pretty Paula looking oh so........." ot something like that. I kind of remeber hearing it on the radio riding all over northern Louisianna trying to finish the Town Meeting Campaign. Memories are a funny kind of thing but that was another tune ....John Lennon I think.

Brooke Tippett Thompson is sharing this with her 8th grade music class today.
Remember she won the Golden Apple Award several years ago.

Thanks,, Sunny. What a powerful video. Music is probably the best vehicle for connection at a deep level. Wouldn't it be marvelous if schools would intentionally put singing in every classroom for every subject. It would expand the memory and there would be no need for left brain tests. Thank you.

David,
I think your suggestion is great! We often think of our songs and singing only in relationship to our corporate and individual spirits, but I believe you and Dixie are right in opening up this form of "formation". I could see some great new songs, posted on UTube that could reach a whole new level of Those Who Care. It will take some careful work, but it's one of the best ideas of "getting our wisdom into history" that I've heard. Let's go for it!

Thanks very much Jack for the Contradictions file. Dixie Jennings-Teats is suggesting that we do some Pentecost Hymn-Writing. I suppose it could either be a workshop or simply a public request with a deadline for posting.
I was fascinated by the posting that Herman gave earlier this week. I was also fascinated by the brillaince with which Jaime writes as he recalled John's life work. Perhaps we could do some hymn-writing.
Its not enough to present a new world-view in the sermons if the hymnody parrots the indiscriminate Sunday School amalgamation of Mark, Matthew, and Luke echoing a 2-story universe.
And what's more, we could take Jack's analysis and do some Bob-Dylan/Pete-Seeger-style song writing. That would be one more way for the issues get off the page of contradictions into the mainstream media!!
In my brooding I've listed issues that could be topics for songs (attached). Is there anyone interested in joining the effort?

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
