Pastor Bill,
You are the greatest! I am grateful to play on your team.
I bump into these hungry folks without end.......and they have nothing to sing! Thank you for these reflections.
I invite everyone to join us in the engaging conversation taking place right now on "Contemporary Mythic Language" on the Forum at: www.storywarrior.net<http://www.storywarrior.net>. The reason for engaging the conversation there, and not here, is so that a larger community can participate and the material can be archived and shared as an ongoing resource (for the 21st Century songwriters of depth).
On the journey.......
Michael

Dear All --
(I do have a point to make and it is printed below in Order Blue.)
Michael May put me onto the storywarrior movement, and it is like I opened the door to the OE almost 40 years ago. The quotation of how the Old Mythos no longer supports us and the New Mythos is not yet written deeply satisfied me; now we live in the "in between times." Sounds a whole lot like living on the point between the No Longer and the Not Yet. That damn point keeps jabbing my butt until it hurts.
I tell people--using the metaphor of Modernism--that I ask God for some time off and God keeps telling me that a long rest is planned for me; until then to keep my nose to the grind stone, or my ass on the point.
Two of my books Resurgence Press is finishing this month and during the next two years I have 7 more volumes planned to finish of my Trinity Bible Commentary! I think that is enough "grind stone," thank you very much.
My point in writing is to say that our songs need to address the nature of "the inbetween times." This is where the hunger lies, and this is where we've got to invent a NEW LANGUAGE to create a NEW LEXICON. This is a lexicon filled with the images of humanel life that points to the meaningfulness. (Order Blue?) Our old Order language is based on Modernism rather than Post-Modernism. How's that for something on which to chew?
Our songs will be fodder for the warriorstory!
Don'tcha think?
Inner Peas,
Pastor Bill
