Dear Friends,

I am writing to ask if you would assist me in a new endeavor. First, to
tell you:

I have just returned from Rome where they launched my "Original Blessing"
in Italian amidst considerable fanfare on the anniversary of Giordano
Bruno's burning at the stake (after all he too was a Dominican) and right under
the pope's nose who called it "dangerous and deviant."

While there I also took the occasion to post my 95 theses at the front of
Cardinal Law's basilica in Rome with press and crowd present (and Vatican
police) for an hour event decrying his cover-up of a priest who abused 150
boys and whom he passed from parish to parish. Law now appoints bishops
world wide from his Vatican post.

We filmed the event and it will be on You Tube soon. My book on the Pope
and the future of the church comes out May 3. Click here for a report on my
Rome trip, _(www.matthewfox.org/index.php/2011/04/posting-95-theses/)_
(http://www.matthewfox.org/index.php/2011/04/posting-95-theses/) and click here
for an announcement on the new book. _(www.matthewfox.org)_

I am wondering if you might be at all interested and able to assist with
our viral campaign as described below. Some of you may have already agreed
to participate, and you will be receiving text, FB, Twitter and Constant
Contact code within a week.
Thank you for your time and interest and support,

Matthew Fox

My book on the present pope and the need to push the restart button on
Christianity, called The Pope's War: How Ratzinger's 30 Year Crusade Imperiled
the Church and What Can Be Saved, comes out officially on May 3. Given the
nature of the issues involved (I use the “S” word and talk about the
"schism" of the past two papacies that have in essence rejected the Second
Vatican Council's reforms), we feel that a viral campaign could help boost
interest and sales of the book in a big way. Three quarters of the book is
about the pope, his enemies (liberation theology, etc.) and his allies
(including opus dei, etc) but the last part is about “What to save from the burning
building” and “what a post-Vatican Catholicism” would look like, etc.
Bruce Chilton has written a powerful Forward for the book, I am touched to say.

I am writing this letter to ask your participation in our viral campaign
on May 3rd, 2011.We are told that such viral campaigns really help to sell
books and bring them to the attention of the New York Times and others. We
will provide you with HTML or text copy, book image, Facebook and Twitter
posts for use in either stand alone E- blasts, Newsletters or Social Media and
ask you to commit to sending your blast out on Tuesday, May 3.

If you want to assist me in this way to get the word out, you could send a
YES to my assistant, Dennis Edwards, @ _33dennis at sbcglobal.net_
(mailto:33dennis at sbcglobal.net) and who will be handling the logistics.

Thank you so much! If they can do it in Cairo and Madison, why not in
Vatican City?

In solidarity,

Matthew Fox
