I think the way we are using the term "responsible" might be making a bigger assumption about predictability and guaranteeing of the future . . .

TRULY.
That's your job as acting Chr. of ICA-USA Board. Please
straighten out the Tea Party and Standard and Poor's
values/depth immediately.

Just using the process does
not assure responsible decisions. The quality of the values being
held in the"judge" and "weigh up" steps are critical. If the decision
is made on behalf of a special interest, be it group and/or ideology,
etc., without taking into account the short and long-term impact upon
the whole and the common good, it would be difficult to see it as
"responsible." Two of our consistent values were/are comprehensiveness and depth.

Well said John, and I particularly appreciate your
last line about saying it more forcefully!

Good illustration of Bonhoeffer's OJWDA by S&P (Standard & Poor's) action on
USA credit worthiness:
Observe: all the data
Judge: USA vulnerable
Weigh up: "not much difference between AAA and
AA+ rating; a nudge for USA to do better" (paraphrase of their head man)
Decide: publish/proclaim the lower rating
Act: they did at close of
day on Friday and all hell broke loose in global markets today
They screwed up on WEIGH UP:
the difference it makes for USA and global economies is enormous, quite
possibly a double dip global recession.
A good example of moralism

Tea Party).
Moody's and Fitch agencies
left USA at AAA rating.
End of illustration.
I do not like the
morality (values/depth) of the Tea Party members
in Congress and S&P. (I could have said this much more forcefully!)
