[Oe List ...] Order Funds

Dear All,

A little context on our funds. As I remember (not always a correct thing!), we had a nice nest egg of funds, education-retirement-health. I remember when Joe announced we were all "millionaires" as we had accumulated that much in our funds. However, as we accelerated our HDP work in 76-77 and started the replication in India (originally we were going to do 8-8-8 HDPs over three years but shifted to 8-16 & replication in India) we needed cash and so the Order Ecumenical loaned ICA about a million dollars and both carried it on their books as accounts receivable (OE) and accounts payable (ICA). It was sort of one part of the family loaning another part some money for cash flow reasons. At the time we didn't foresee the OE crisis nor the ICA funding bind that was to come in the 80's. So, when the OE went out of being in 1988 it forgave the 1 million debt owed it by the ICA and dispersed the remainder to the OE members, at that time, based on a formula of a minimum of 10 years of service and the older ones getting a higher share than the young ones. I can say that I enjoy getting my $50/month from the annuity company, it keeps me in beer and wine with a little left over for some peanuts.
