Thanks for sharing this article by Rifkin.  It strikes me that when he calls for a new economic narrative he's really calling for a shift from an economic to a cultural narrative.  The underpinning of what he calls the "third industrial revolution" is what we referred to as a "cultural revolution" nearly fifty years ago.  It is my belief that none of what Rifkin and others are calling far can occur without significant changes in the hearts and minds of people.  That will look like new stories of reality that locate us humans as part of the interdependent whole, acted out in a partnering, collaborative style as we learn to live in peace with all creation.  Along the way, we'll create new symbols to hold the new reality.  Facilitation may indeed become the new word for leadership.
 
Hope you guys have a great meeting.  I remember gratefully my brief time with you a year ago on San Antonio.

As a participant on the Program Committee of the TTN Conference in Sacramento Jan 6-9, I just read Rifkin's article on what is sees as contributing to the coming of the New Collaborative Age.  http://odewire.com/135419/viva-la-revolution.html .
One of the tracks at this conference will be examining the philosophy and underlying assumptions of the ICA methods now packaged as the Technologies of Participation to discuss how they support the emergence of this New Collaborative Age and what we as facilitative leaders can do the accelerate the development of the optimum life conditions for the 21st century.


I invite your wisdom and insights on this.
