Subject: [Oe List ...] Greetings from Point Lonsdale, Victoria
Greetings colleagues and friends,
Firstly, condolences to the Wiegel family on the loss of your small loved
one.
Secondly, here during the ToP/ICA Retreat over the past week, we held a
memorial ceremony for our beloved friend and colleague Elaine Richmond. Ray
had a series of slides which were shown. He also had a series of slides of
the words to "The Rose", Elaine's favourite song.
Thirdly, some of us lit a candle after the last meal, as we thought of
Sandra True, who several of us had met in India and/or Chicago. I met Bob
and Sandra when they returned from India in mid-1978 for the Global Research
Assembly in Chicago in July. And I met young Lyn True up on the third floor
children's program.
Finally, some news on some of our Queensland colleagues and the disasterous
floods:
a) Rilla and Sandra, and some of their family members, were evacuated to
safety, so we missed catching up with the sisters of the late Carol Borovic.
b) David Jago was with us. He praises the deep protective trench in front
of his house.
c) Ray Richmond was with us, and his Brisbane housing was safe.
d) John and Julie Miesen were with us, after driving from Adelaide and NSW
(?). Their property is OK, although their street and local shops are
apparently flooded.
All of the above, and others, have friends and relatives they've been
enquiring about. At the beginning of the week the evening news services
were extended on most TV channels, to cover breaking news. Support was
coming from across the country, and from Indonesia. It will take a massive
re-construction effort.
There's been some rain in Victoria. Sue Cole and I travelled from Adelaide
along the Great Ocean Road, along the Victoria coast. We had to slow down a
couple of times due to roadworks due to landslides. We've heard since that
the Road has been completely closed off due to more landslides. We were
planning to return via a different route, anyway!
News on our week's proceedings will be in the next edition of Pacific Waves.
Grace and Peace
Frank Bremner
