I remember Mary Alice's enthusiasm and eagerness, together with her strength and determination to do and be all she could. She always wanted to know the latest ICA news, and usually had other hopeful news to share. A great person to share a laugh with - she would notice the absurd, with a twinkle in her eye. It was a delight to see her at gatherings of ICA East, or when she opened her home to Abe and me or other colleagues. Louise and others in the Washington House Church, I'm so happy for your visit to her before she passed!! I can't imagine anything that would have brought her so much connection, support, and love. You represented me and I'm sure others who knew her, just beautifully. Go in joy, Mary Alice.

We remember Mary Alice's thoughtfulness during the 7th and 8th grade trip of 1984. She made it possible for 15 students and 5 adults to escape from the blistering heat of Washington, DC in a swimming pool and sprinklers. She was a God Send for us. We much appreciated her down to earth practicality and refreshing spirit.

    Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Friday morning, our friend and fellow spirit traveler, Mary Alice Jessup
(Bassett) passed into the next life. She had been in a nursing home for
several years. We are so grateful that last Monday morning, members of our
Washington House Church group paid her a visit. We had the chance to sing
many songs to her, while she mouthed the words she remembered. We also
lifted up to her the spirit gifts she shared with us: love of everything in
our natural world, the goodness of each and every person no matter how the
world had treated them, total acceptance of the other as good, her generous
nature, her genuine warmth and openness. The list goes on and on.

Mary Alice was a movement colleague in the Washington region and felt the
call to serve in Egypt during our Human Development phase.

    She will be missed.

    Grace and peace,
Louise Ballard for the House Church
