George,

Thanks so much for this update and your care for the Alerdings and for
those who name them as "beloved community."  It's good to know the
Gibsons and others are close by.  We have many fond memories of Barb and
Bill dating back to 1968. and trust both will recover well and soon be
back home.  Shall follow your advice for "snail mail."  Is Barbara in the
same hospital?

We just heard via Juaquina Rodreguez in Guatemala that Bill Alderding
suffered a heart attack and is in The hospital. We have called John
Gibson who investegated and found it to be true. Bills sister put an
anouncement out to personal fiends and their local network. Barbara has
been in the a hospital situation as well recovering from back problems. 
 
It sounds that both Bill and Barbara are surrounded by the care that they
need. The doctors want to keep Bill in the Intensive Care Unit to try to
avoid doing invasive surgery.  They hope that rehab can be effective. Not
knowing their e-mail situation it might be best to send "Ye old snail
mail card".
