This year marks the fifth annual international event hosted by Creation
Spirituality Communities. Our focus is on "living sustainably as spiritual
practice." While there are many conferences and workshops about sustainable
living, this event is different in that it frames the work of living
sustainably as a spiritual practice. We do so this year in the midst of
Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. So, while the conference is being held at
the Cenacle Center, it is more accurate to say that it is being held in
Chicago. We are seeking sustainable practices not from the isolation of a
retreat center, but within the complex milieu of urban America.

In Creation Spirituality, we believe that all is connected-the Divine is
in all things and all things are in the Divine. We therefore seek to live
sustainable lives in harmony with the cosmic interconnectivity in which we
have our being.
In Creation Spirituality, we believe that ecological justice is essential
for the sustainability of life on Earth. We therefore are exploring our
pattern of resource use in order to meet human needs equitably while
preserving the environment, so that our needs can be met in the present and for
future generations.
Creation Spirituality Communities is a volunteer organization established
under the non-profit status of a "church." It relies on its membership
(event participants) to support and implement the mission of creating,
networking and supporting creation centered communities and individuals. So
when we gather each year we widen the circle of community and deepen our
understanding and passion for creation.
Nearly half of all the event participants take part in envisioning,
creating, planning and leading the event - and the other half bring their
creative ideas and voices to help imagine new ways to honor and care for
creation. While the planning committee can provide some of the content,
schedules, and direction for the event, the community of participants chooses how
it will unfold. Like any ecology, its unfolding is determined by a web of
relationships.
