Not to drop too much metaphysics on us - but some might find Marjori
Suchockki's book, The End of Evil helpful. For the most part the
existentialist theology that was so central to our religious models and
RS-`1 did not have the metaphysical context to affirm life continuing past
death. This has been a significant debate among process thinkers - some like
Schubert Ogden stand with Tillich suggesting that that there is no
"subjective immortality," I am remembered - not simply by those who knew me,
but who also can forget me, but by God who never forgets. John Cobb and
Suchocki move beyond the "objective subjectivity" to an affirmtion of a
continuing plane of existence. For them, and I might add for many Jewish
thinkers, theodicy required space and time where evil is not simply
justified, but transformed.

I will miss John, he like me found process theology as providing deep
insight into our journey in the order.

We were robbed. He died too young.
