[Oe List ...] Salmon Song writing

After working the last two years in high school listening to rap all day long, our song-writing needs to change. Pete Seeger ain't gonna cut it much, and god-forbid we use what is popular among the "contemporary worship" group.
At present I have three songs book, and I've republished the old blue three-ring binder song book-- probably the most comprehensive one, although it was a rush job and not neatly done. This republished book was for inquires from colleagues.
Perhaps, some one can tell me what a progressive RS-I song might sound like. At times, I've been inspired not only to write the verses, but to write the tunes as well. All of this from a deaf man? LOL.
Grace and Peace, kids.

Great idea, and don't we already have a song called "The Pentecost Hymn"?
LIke the sound of heaven with the rushing of the wind
Came the fire a=burning and new life was given to men.
The young see visioons and the old dream dreams
Born of fire, filled with power for all men. (a few changes needed, obviously)
To the light from darkness and to freedom from fear,
Building from the ashes into one community:
Peter, Paul and Luther, Augustine and Benedict
Born of fire, filled with power for all men.
There are two more verses I can send if you want them. They are good, but need some attention to gender! I found this in Movement Songs, page A-30. I think we must have about all the songs written and they will belong to the Archives as soon as we stop using them.

Songs are very important. With respect to Hymn writing, I was just forwarding material on John Montgomery's website, so he deserves the credit for the hymn writing idea.

Thanks very much Jack for the Contradictions file. Dixie Jennings-Teats is suggesting that we do some Pentecost Hymn-Writing. I suppose it could either be a workshop or simply a public request with a deadline for posting.
I was fascinated by the posting that Herman gave earlier this week. I was also fascinated by the brillaince with which Jaime writes as he recalled John's life work. Perhaps we could do some hymn-writing.
Its not enough to present a new world-view in the sermons if the hymnody parrots the indiscriminate Sunday School amalgamation of Mark, Matthew, and Luke echoing a 2-story universe.
And what's more, we could take Jack's analysis and do some Bob-Dylan/Pete-Seeger-style song writing. That would be one more way for the issues get off the page of contradictions into the mainstream media!!
In my brooding I've listed issues that could be topics for songs (attached). Is there anyone interested in joining the effort?
David
