[Oe List ...] Sad News

Dear Priscilla,

Thank you so much for updating us on this news that is, indeed, very,very
sad.  

I didn't know Susan, but imagine she was as lovely, unique and talented
as her mother, and Priscilla &Jennifer, two of her siblings -- the
beautiful, young Wood daughters I knew at least a bit at various stages
of our OE/EI/ICA journey. (It was my loss to have missed connecting with
Susan, Emily and David.)

It is difficult to think of Susan, our "second generation," as a
grandparent, and also Anne (and you) as great-grandmothers -- especially
as Joe and I have only been grandparents since 2000!!  (late bloomers
that we have always been).  

Nevertheless, how wonderful Susan was able to welcome her first
granddaughter.  I imagine that little girl was a special gift to her
grandma, Susan, and continues to be to her great grandma, Anne. And
perhaps she represents TWLI: the promise of life abundant, ever receding
and being renewed, like the tide.

Joe and I hold the Wood family in our personal prayers today.  We will
name Ann; Susan and all her siblings; and their beloved ones and progeny
in the Prayers of the People in worship within our local congregation
this Sunday.  

And in so doing,  we will give thanks for David Wood, who with others
like Rod Wilson, Don Moffett, Jim Phillips and Shel Hill  dared to take a
stand as Our Board.  Because of their smarts, commitment and dogged
service, ICA USA or ICAI would never have come to be.
