Barbara and Don were guardians for daughter Chrystina Hanson during her time
at the Student House. They were wonderful companions for her. Barbara made
Tina the best Halloween costume ever - a great pumpkin suit. Barbara and Don
kept in touch during that time and I always felt confident they were fully
present as her surrogate parents. Barbara had a huge, loving spirit and
added a lightness of being to corporate life.

Thank you Mike for creating this community space to remember the Barkony
family and to Lynda for the wonderful picture. It will appear on our
Memoriam table May 19th when the Cleveland Region gathers to celebrate ICA's
first 50 years and look ahead to the next 50. Barb, Don and their family
have roots in this Region, as do many, and we are grateful for their many
caring contributions to the "Word made Flesh" in this world.

We celebrate Barb's completed life, Judy and Norm Lindblad

Like the Tippetts, Barbara and Don were part of my beginning experience with
the Order in the Cleveland Region. Before we joined the Order, we went to a
regional meeting in Columbus. I still remember Barbara up in front of the
group doing a bang-up job and I was so impressed that here was this large
woman (obviously my issue too) having the poise, passion and intellect to
address the crowd. She gave me courage to believe I too could do this
because before this I was sitting on the sidelines on teaching. I am
grateful for her life and the symbol of what we could be. My prayers go
out to Don and his daughters. Joan Knutson

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

I got this message today on my Facebook Page:

To all of my friends and family here on facebook, I lost my wife(Barbara) of
53 years on March 29, 2012. She went peacefully with her family by her side.
She had been doing better, and we were able to celebrate our 53rd wedding
anniversary on the 21st of March, we had our favorite ice cream cake, and
Dogwood Barbaque brisquet! She was all smiles and so was I! My new address
is
Donald Barkony <http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003573794844>
1800 Pine Street
Lawrenceville, IL 62439
Ph: (618)943-1323 <tel:%28618%29943-1323>

Judith and I have known Barb and Don literally since the beginning of our
experience with the Order. We took RSI in January, 1968 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Don was in our course, and Barbara had already taken the course, and was a
"P.O." Throughout the 70s we shared Movement activities in the Cleveland
Region, and then reconnected at Kemper in the 80s. Barbara was an excellent
teacher, both in public schools and in EI courses, particularly in the
Academy.

They visited us here in Florida in 200l. We wish Don the best. He has been
Barbara's caregiver for the past 10 years or so, after they retired to
Lawrenceville. No more devoted husband has ever been created!

Grace, Peace, and Love,

Mike
