Dear Debra and Jeff and family, My apologies for not including you in the
cc's. I also was thinking that I should have checked with some of the
family before sending it to get an update on her health. Do you have any
news?
I noticed the birthday when I was sharing my "Love Affair with India" with a
colleague and decided to google her. That's where I found the article
linked below.
It was good to have met you at the JWM/JKM Legacy Event in WDC. Hope you
all are doing well. Lynda Cock

The link below is a 2004 photo and article of Bishop Jim and Mrs. Mathews
at a 90th Birthday celebration. I do not have recent info on her health but
I imagine that
she would be honored to hear from some of you on this occasion.

This is the address I have which may or may not be current. If anyone has
other data, please share it. I'm copying her niece and nephew Rebecca Alice
Watson and Tim Watson who may have more data.

The book about her growing up years in India will be especially meaningful
for those who have lived there. It is called appropriately "A Love Affair
with India," and is a book about her mother and the amazing work she did
while her well-known husband (Dr. E. Stanley Jones) was traveling the
world. This book is on the reading list for United Methodist Women, so a
copy may be available in a Methodist Church library. We celebrate the
pioneering work of Mabel L. Jones and her courage to step out of the usual
boundaries into a bold vocation of service. We celebrate the continuing
work of mission support that has been Mrs. Mathews life's work, both with
her father and later with her husband, Bishop Jim.
We celebrate her 98 years of Being Here with Being Itself in History.
