[Oe List ...] Update on Ken Wiltse

Justin and I visited Ken today in a nursing home, which is his transitional
point before heading home.  Ross and his son visited while we were there,
and, of course, Peggy.  

 

The family and doctors expect him to be there for around 90 days, and then
continue recovery at home.  He was at lunch when we visited, sitting up in a
wheelchair, which has to be moved by someone else.  He's eating a little,
but doesn't have much appetite; is talking, although a bit slow; and seems
to have most of his motor skills intact.  He isn't walking much at this
point, but is expected to.  The doctors say that it is too early to give a
prognosis on his full recovery - it takes 6 - 9 months before that is
possible.  His back aches at times quite a bit, but he was having trouble
with this before - it just complicates the comfort level of his stay.
Everyone seems very hopeful regarding the outcome.

 

I'm sure Ken would appreciate and enjoy cards and other well-wishes while he
is staying at his "new" home, which is only a few miles from his and Peggy's
