We hope this day is filled with joy and gratitude for the gift that Sandra
has been to us all and to the millions who were blessed by the gifts of her
life and service. Much of that was you two as an incredible team who had
your sensitivities to what was going on the world as our community journeyed
through many changes and transitions.

 

I especially remember on the Westside of Chicago as we did daily office each
morning how I always looked forward to the witnesses you and Sandra might
give. I don't remember the content but I do remember that it was always
practical and down-to-earth awareness of the presence of the "Yes" in your
lives and therefore ours - that no matter what was given or taken from us,
the abiding presence of the "Mystery" was what sustained us

 

And it still does as I see from your words below.

Dear Colleagues,

Next Tuesday January 24, 2012, Mark. Lynn and I will gather with friends for
a meal to mark the anniversary of Sandra's death. We will borrow from the
old House Church format. 

I request and welcome any "Sandra stories" that you may wish to share to
include in our celebratory meal. 

It is difficult to comprehend that a year has passed. As I struggle through
the wound of loss, I am daily reminded of deep gratitude for Sandra and the
journey we shared. In particular she and I both carry an abiding gratitude
to the Mystery for bringing us to this wonderful community that you all are
- Present, Past, and Future.
