I haven't heard news that has excited me so much or made me so proud in a very long time.  

Feel free to call the above comment irrational exuberance.  I would be equally excited by the news no matter where it came from.  I am proud that as a community we have struggled to see the universal in the particular and the particular in the universal.   I am proud of every action I encounter that struggles to hold this tension.

Additionally, there is lead in almost the entirety of Iowa's water supply, so all that is done in relation to other concerns like batteries and paint do not make the difference here.  Just like those that still do not believe global warming is an issue, lead in our water "shouldn't overly concern us."
