Bodily is before death, Bill. It's a story, get with it.

Herman, et al,

Joe did not believe in a bodily resurrection. In preparing for his own
death he spoke of the finality of human existence. Thiis lecture is framed
on, "The Resurrectional Man" (sic) and not focused on a traditional
understanding of a bodily resurrection. I suppose that a "resurrectionalman"
and an "un-resurrectional man" would be like moving from the latter to the
former in the form of a bodily resurrection.

In light of our history of RS-I and The Other World, the term
"Resurrection" can be associated with "Awakenment;" that is, awakening to
the reality of living the humane and gracious life that is founded on the
objectivity of reality; what we are is transformed by what we discover. Or,
there is an association between living in the human desert and awakening to
a spiritual oasis that is found in the middle of our human experience. It is
the decision to, "acceptance our acceptance."

On second reflection, the Other World talks may give us the better
understanding of the experience of the resurrection.

Perhaps, it can be summarized that the theology of RS-I is on
justification, while The Other World is focused on sanctification.

    Inner Peace,

    Bill

Marge Philbrook sent me Joe Mathews' talk called "The Resurrectional Man." I
was so glad to receive it and thought some of you would like to have a copy
as well.

I have remembered this talk. It doesn't say exactly what I thought it did,
at least not directly. What I remembered was how it talked of resurrection
as bodily resurrection. I see indirectly it does say that. We are embodied,
broken, and there is the possibility of resurrection.

Herman
