Jim, I have another book club tomorrow night so won’t be able to make the evening call. I can’t make either of the other two options either, so I’ll have to join you next week. Very exciting to know so many people want to discuss the book. I’ve listened to all 5 hours of Ken and Fredrick discussing the book on Integral Life. Very informative.
Here’s the link. I think you need to subscribe to Integral Life to listen to them, but try and see.

The book is right on target as I see it, a good follow-up to Otto Scharmer’s books which focus strongly on consciousness in the workplace. I’ve been involved in organizational transformation since the 80′s with the Gilles’ in Mumbei, have used it to support ourselves along with Larry Philbrook in Taiwan for 23 years now as ICATaiwan. I intend to follow along with this study to help me make sure I fully digest this book. In the first study, I’m most taken by the bit in the 7th column (green) regarding wisdom beyond rationality. Have learned that intuition provides higher quality thinking so try to give my intuition time to produce wisdom, and it does. After 7 years of weekly dreamwork (a dream a message from my unconscious) I’ve learned to have my dream and just wait for my unconscious to speak to me. It works.

Yesterday Marissa shared her excitement about the book and this group. I immediately downloaded and have begun reading it. I would love to participate in the calls. Do I need to do anything else to receive call-in info?

A bit about me – seems I do similar work to most of you. I’m a partner in a social enterprise network called Innovation Partners International. We work with organizations and communities from a strength-based, whole-system perspective. My other professional passion is transpersonal leadership, which draws from my background as a transpersonal counselor as well as my organizational work.

I’m always up for an opportunity to hang out with Jim and Marissa and look forward to meeting all of you.

I have been a fan of Ken Wilber’s Integral model for many years and am excited to see that more and more organizations are now striving to adopt integral practices. I currently run a small nonprofit and feel these principles would be easily embraced by the nonprofit sector to the benefit of many.

This Tuesday at 6:30 pm works for me.

I have my own consulting company in Orillia, Ontario. I was with the ICA for 20 years and 20 years with a company I founded called PEOPLEnergy. I am flying to Nepal today for 2 weeks of volunteer work with ICA Nepal on leadership development.
I will probably not be able to participate at the beginning of the conversations and look forward to any written thoughts.
Warmest regards, Jan

From a quick look at the book, he seems to have a good grasp of the organizational malaise that I’ve seen operative in many companies — and other organizations. I’m interested to see what he prescribes.
Tuesday could work for me. 6:30 PM in Phoenix would be 7:30 PM in Denver. I’ll be on then and looking forward to “seeing” you-all (my southern heritage seeps through).

I plan to connect by Skype. I am back in Pune.
The book that has been ordered will probably land in my hands only next week.
I have been associated with the ICA since 1972.
What interests me is the possibility of the evolution of organisations.
I am currently involved in a non formal education centre for young women.

Steve Harrington here. I live in San Jose Costa Rica; am mostly retired now, learning Spanish “one-word-at-a-time” it seems, grin. In a previous lifetime I owned my own consulting company, Lived in Ottawa, Vienna, Moscow, NYC and WDC. I correspond with a zen teacher in Minneapolis whom I consider my teacher, however I’m at best a poor student. I have 2 daughters one is married in Minneapolis where I grew up, one lives in Chicago and owns her own graphic design business.

What interests me in this study group is a “system model” of organizations, like Peter Senge’s work – and especially what kind of culture gets small companies off the ground. I’m especially interested in the ideas in this fin 3 minute video clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-TWYN6F6LU

I know Jim Wiegel from his facilitation work and most recently from some work we’ve done recently at the Global Archives Project at ICA in Chicago -mostly via the computer screen.
